Functional Medicine & Diagnostics
Functional medicine focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness rather than merely treating symptoms. It views the body as an interconnected system, taking into account factors such as genetics, lifestyle, nutrition, and environment. At our Berlin center, our team includes naturopaths and doctors who work together to provide comprehensive, personalized care.

Acute Health Conditions We Treat
Common Respiratory Infections (Sinus Infections, Bronchitis, Pneumonia, Flu)
Many doctors may quickly recommend antibiotics, but these aren’t always necessary and can sometimes harm your gut health. While antibiotics are important for serious infections like pneumonia, many other respiratory issues can be treated with natural alternatives such as high-dose vitamin C infusions and herbal remedies. We’ll work together to find a treatment that suits you
Common Gut Issues (Diarrhea, Colitis, Gastritis)
Many gut issues, like diarrhea, colitis, and gastritis, can be effectively treated with herbs and natural probiotics. Strong medications are often not needed for these conditions, and only more severe cases may require stronger treatments.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
UTIs are often treatable with natural remedies like oregano capsules, cranberry extract, and other herbal supplements. If the pain is severe and you need quick relief, antibiotics may be used to help reduce the pain and clear the infection. The right antibiotic will be selected based on the type of bacteria detected.
Chronic Health Conditions We Treat
Chronic Fatigue & Burnout
Chronic fatigue and burnout are common today, often caused by factors like hormonal imbalances, mineral deficiencies, or toxin buildup. At our clinic, we take the time to thoroughly assess each patient to identify the root causes before offering a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.
Chronic Pain (Back, Headaches, Joints, etc.)
Chronic pain can be severe, affecting not just your physical health, but also your mental and social well-being. It often occurs in the back, head, and joints, typically due to chronic inflammation. Living with chronic pain can be challenging, so it’s important to explore treatments and remedies to manage the pain effectively.
Food Intolerances & Allergies
Food intolerances can disrupt your gut health, but we take a comprehensive approach to treat them. Our process includes:
- Microbiome Examination: We analyze your gut health to identify any imbalances.
- Heavy Metals and Pesticides Panel: We test for toxins that may be affecting your digestive system.
- Parasite and Bacteria Testing: We check for harmful microorganisms that could be causing issues.
- Mineral and Vitamin Infusions: We use targeted infusion to replenish essential nutrients, which can help reduce inflammation and support your body’s healing process.
Dr. Lemm has successfully used this method to help herself and her patients overcome food allergies and restore gut health.
Digestive Problems & Gut Health
Gut issues are becoming more common due to the Western diet and overuse of antibiotics. Both traditional and modern medicine agree that the gut is crucial to our overall health. Often referred to as the “second brain,” our gut plays a key role in hormone regulation and immune function. One common issue is leaky gut syndrome, where toxins leak from the gut into the bloodstream, causing a range of health problems. That’s why gut health testing is a fundamental part of our diagnostic process, and we recommend it for everyone seeking to improve their wellbeing.
Depression & Other Mental Disorders
In our experience, depression and other mental health issues are often linked to physical health problems, not just psychological causes. In Western medicine, depression can sometimes be diagnosed quickly when no clear physical causes are found. However, conditions like undetected iron deficiency or Lyme disease can often mimic symptoms of depression. At our clinic, we take a comprehensive approach, thoroughly assessing both your physical and mental health to identify the root causes before making any diagnosis.
Additionally, we offer Alpha-Stim therapy, an innovative, non-invasive treatment that has shown positive results for patients suffering from depression and other mental health conditions. We also provide Wingwave therapy, a fast and effective method designed to address emotional blockages and help manage stress, anxiety, and trauma.
Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is a complex and often misunderstood illness caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted through tick bites. It can affect multiple systems in the body, including the joints, nervous system, and heart, and its symptoms can mimic many other conditions, making it challenging to diagnose.
Common Symptoms Include:
- Fatigue and chronic exhaustion
- Joint pain and swelling
- Neurological issues, such as memory problems or nerve pain
- Fever, headaches, and muscle aches
What we do:
- Thorough Testing: Advanced diagnostics to detect Lyme bacteria, co-infections, and the impact on your immune system.
- Targeted Treatment Plans
Chronic Inflammatory & Autoimmune Diseases
Chronic inflammation is a prolonged immune system reaction, often triggered by various factors. Autoimmune diseases, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues, are a common cause of chronic inflammation. However, inflammation can also arise from other factors. Some of the most common causes include:
- Environmental Factors/Toxins: Exposure to pollutants or harmful chemicals.
- Long-term Infections: Persistent bacterial, viral, or fungal infections.
- Inappropriate Lifestyle: Stress, poor diet, lack of physical activity, and unhealthy social environments can all contribute.
At our clinic, we focus on identifying the underlying causes of chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases to provide effective treatments tailored to each individual.
Our Advanced Diagnostic Techniques
Vitacell Scan For Minerals & Toxins
Vita Cell Scan uses spectral photometry to measure minerals and heavy metals in your tissue in your hand. It provides valuable insights into deficiencies and toxicities at the cellular level, where diseases often begin, empowering us to treat root causes and support your health journey effectively.
Why It’s Important
- Mineral Levels: Identifies nutrient deficiencies essential for recovery.
- Heavy Metal Toxicity: Detects harmful toxins like mercury or arsenic that can contribute to chronic disease.
Our Approach
We combine VitaCellScan with blood and urine tests for a comprehensive diagnosis. This method is particularly effective alongside chelation therapy, minimizing side effects and enhancing recovery.
Bioscan bioresonance
The Bioscan is an alternative diagnostic method that measures the body’s radiating wave frequencies (bioresonance). This non-invasive test provides insights into your vitamin and nutrient levels, organ health, and overall well-being.
At our clinic, we use Bioscan as part of a comprehensive diagnostic process. While this tool is not yet recognized in conventional medicine, we combine it with other proven methods like Vitacell, urine analysis, and blood tests to ensure accurate and thorough results.
How We Use Bioscan
Over the years, we’ve seen excellent results by utilizing Bioscan to assess:
- Amino Acids (e.g., tryptophan, which impacts energy, mood, and sleep)
- Pesticides and Chemical Toxins in the body
- Heavy Metal Toxicity (mercury, arsenic, cadmium, etc.)
- Vaginal Infections
- Trace Elements and Minerals
- Vitamin Levels
Comprehensive Blood Testing
Blood is indeed crucial for assessing many aspects of health, but as you rightly mentioned, it doesn’t always reflect the full picture of what’s happening inside the body. Different components in the blood, like minerals in cells versus the serum or plasma, can offer varying insights. This is why we offer a range of tests to capture a comprehensive understanding of a person’s health.
Here are the tests available at our clinic:
- Whole body blood testing
- Metabolic
- Mitochondrial functional
- Genetic and epigenetic
- Food and chemical sensitivity testing (Sensitivity vs. allergy)
- Micronutrient testing
- Hormone testing
These tests are designed to offer in-depth information about your health, supporting accurate diagnoses and tailored treatment plans.
Urine Heavy Metals Testing
Unlike blood, heavy metals are often not visible there because they are stored in our tissues. Urine testing, however, provides a clearer picture, particularly before and after chelation therapy, as it tracks the release of these toxins from the body.
Common heavy metals such as aluminum, barium, lead, cadmium, mercury, and others accumulate in the body over time, often without being detected in standard blood tests. Chelation therapy helps to remove these metals, and by measuring urine levels before and after treatment, we can assess how effectively the body is detoxifying.
Veda Pulse Heart Rate Variability
Our heart can reveal crucial information about our health if we learn to listen closely. Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects the balance between the sympathetic (stress) and parasympathetic (rest) nervous systems. A strong parasympathetic system ensures optimal regulation of internal processes and a healthy coupling of heart rate and breathing.
When this coupling is disrupted, it can signal parasympathetic dysfunction, often caused by stress, poor lifestyle, or illness. This dysfunction is linked to cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. Positive emotions like love and joy support a healthy heart rhythm, while negative emotions increase stress hormones.
Modern biofeedback methods measure heart rate and breathing to assess this regulation and its impact on health.
Vaginal Microbiome & Flora
Medical studies show that infections in the vaginal area can lead to premature contractions, rupture of the fetal membrane, and preterm birth. You can prevent these risks by checking your vaginal status at our practice. This test is fully covered by all health insurances.
Our comprehensive vaginal flora test, which is rarely done by gynecologists and usually not free, assesses the health of your vaginal microbiome. If you experience pain, irritation, or cystitis, we recommend this examination as soon as possible. The test evaluates the physiological flora (lactobacilli and pH) and checks for harmful bacteria, such as Group B Streptococcus, which can affect your baby during birth.
If the flora is unbalanced, lactobacilli suppositories can help restore a healthy environment.

Gut Microbiome
The intestine and its microbiome form the largest immune organ in the body. Healthy gut flora helps protect against harmful agents, while an imbalance—known as dysbiosis—can lead to infections, allergies, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Disruption caused by antibiotics, stress, diet, or other factors can compromise this balance.
We use a stool sample to assess the state of your intestinal flora in a specialized lab. The detailed report we receive helps us understand the composition of your gut bacteria, allowing us to create a personalized immunotherapy plan with probiotics. Probiotics are healthy bacteria that rebuild and strengthen the intestinal flora, boosting overall immune health. This therapy is gradual, often extending over several months, but it is highly effective and suitable for all ages, from adults to babies.
