gentle baby turning

Mahakala Center offers a gentle and effective method to help babies turn into the head-down position starting at 34 weeks. Developed by Dr. Lemm, this holistic approach uses soft techniques to support a natural and stress-free transition.

Our Treatment Plan for Gentle Baby Turning

Mahakala has developed a highly effective method for gentle baby turning, combining moxibustion, a traditional Chinese medicine treatment, with other medical therapies. This approach is used at 34 weeks of pregnancy if the baby has not yet moved into the head-down position for birth. With a 70% success rate, this method has helped hundreds of women achieve a natural transition. Below, you’ll find an overview of the treatment plan:

Nutrition Blood Test

Mahakala has found that uterine and abdominal muscles are often not relaxed enough in women who are deficient in vitamin D, B12, proteins, magnesium, and sometimes calcium. To address this, we recommend a nutrition blood test, which is covered by health insurance. Results are available within 2-3 days, allowing us to determine the right supplementation.

Since most women lack magnesium, we advise starting supplementation immediately. By correcting deficiencies with magnesium, vitamin D, proteins, and B-complex vitamins, we support muscle relaxation, helping the body prepare for birth.

After a nutrition blood test, we assess how well-nourished a pregnant woman’s blood is. If deficiencies are found, we recommend magnesium, vitamin D, proteins, B-complex vitamins, and other essential supplements. Proper nourishment helps the muscles relax, supporting a smoother pregnancy and birth.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique that involves heating specific acupuncture points with a herbal cigarette. In pregnancy, moxa is applied to a meridian point on the toe, which helps stimulate the baby’s movement, encouraging it to turn from the breech position to the head-down position.

For the highest success, we recommend daily moxibustion for 6 days in a row. After this, along with two acupuncture treatments, we suggest an ultrasound to check if the baby has turned. If the result is not favorable, we may recommend repeating the acupuncture treatments. Even if you are past the 35th week of pregnancy, we can proceed with moxibustion, but only if there is enough space for the baby to move—this must be confirmed first for the procedure to be effective.

Acupuncture is applied to specific points that promote physical relaxation and address psychological tension. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and holistic healing, emotional and psychological stress is closely linked to the physical body. By treating both physical and emotional points, acupuncture helps create a balanced environment for the baby to turn.

Acupuncture treatments are done twice a week, either before or after moxibustion, to enhance the effectiveness of the baby turning process.

Mahakala has integrated a breathing relaxation exercise as a simple yet powerful form of meditation. Dr. Lemm has observed that mindful concentration during breathing exercises helps calm the body and mind, preparing women for childbirth.

When practiced alongside moxibustion, relaxation techniques can increase the success rate, as a relaxed state supports the natural turning process.
